For some years ago I found out about an unusual Iranian band named 127. Since then I have tried to follow up their musical journey through Internet, the one and only playground for our Iranian alternative generation.
To me 127 have always been a very respectful band that has put a bold signature on the progress of today's Iranian popular music. We are talking about a small alternative music scene, which is oppressed and forest into underground. Unfortunately in this small scene, 127 is one of the most unappreciated bands in Iran.

The band has its own original sound with a blend of Jazz and Alternative folk music. They also have written some brilliant English music text that can definitely be considered as master pieces. The tracks that I have always enjoyed listing to by 127 are "My sweet little terrorist song" and the "Perfect Esfehan Blues". The thing is that I have always been touched by their simple easy going and cosmopolitan sound. They have a type of sound that is melodic and in a way melancholic and very depressive too. All and all together has created a characteristic style that is 127.

These days, there is something going on in the 127 studio! I guess they have gone through some difficult crises and are back on track, but on a different track this time.

Newly I found out about their latest song called "Khosro-e Khooban" and the moment that I heard it I just got numb. It was in "Persian" and it was an up-tempo track with a very funny song and video clip that simply suggests the fact that 127 is back with a new attitude. The sound and the style of the band is more or less the same but somehow jazzier and at the same time more Persian in the sense of rhythm and melody. But I can't and shouldn't judge by this only one track that we've got from them. . Let's wait and see what comes out soon, hopefully as an album this time I am writing this review only because I believe that they must be appreciated and recognized, probably as one of the most original alternative bands ever that is based in Iran and still alive and kicking in the underground of Teheran.
